Agents & Editors Don’t Bite

Just to prove it, this is a skit that Steve and Nan Rinella acted out on What not to do when pitching to an agent or editor.

I met Steve in the 90’s at a writers conference. He has been speaking at our Writers Workshops, at the C.S. Lewis Foundation conferences since 2009. I learned these what-not-to-do’s in those years.

In the background is the University of Texas Longhorn (Steve). I wore a Texas Tech shirt. Do your research on the agent & editor, personally as well as professionally. Steve lives in Phoenix where I grew up. A starting point of conversation.

One note: in the 2nd part when I am trying to pitch my book in the right way, it leaves a lot to be desired since the novel was a long way from being finished. I expect you’ll learn more on not what to do from that too.

Keep in mind this was recorded in 2012 but the principals are still the same.

Enjoy,

Nan
